Calgary, Alberta
The Calgary Kookaburras mission statement is ‘to provide a competitive and social atmosphere for women to play Australian Rules Football’ and sticking true to that, they’ve implemented initiatives to break down barriers for Moms looking to return to sport or Moms looking to try out a new sport.
The Kookaburras have hired a program co-ordinator for all training and games, to provide FREE childcare for busy Mom’s who have been unable to get out for a kick in the past.
Vice President, Tricia Roulfe, took to CityTV Breakfast Television to explain the initiative to the entire city. Tricia mentioned that the club's philosophy is ‘that just because you have kids doesn’t mean you have to drop out of sport’.
