The budding talent of the Hyundai NTC team was on full display on Sunday as they dismantled Fremantle City 6-1 at Wauhop Park.

The Fremantle side contained Perth Glory W-League skipper Tash Rigby, joint Gold Medal Winners Gemma Craine and Laura Waltman and influential captain Mikayla Lyons.

But they were left chasing shadows as NTC, with their array of Junior and Young Matildas and other bright prospects, showed why they are so highly rated.

NTC needed a stoppage time penalty to take a point against bottom-of-the-table Subiaco last week. Here they left nothing to chance, storming into a two-goal lead inside eight minutes.

First, Kate Armstrong fired high into the net from the corner of the box after she was well picked out by Abbey Green.

Then NTC carved through Freo for the second. The 11-pass move, which included fit-again keeper Miranda Templeman, finished with Judy Connolly tapping in almost on the Fremantle goalline. A wonderful team goal.

Many of Fremantle’s issues were arising in the left-back position and that was the case nine minutes from half-time as Waltman was robbed by Armstrong, who passed to Connolly to score.

Fremantle’s disastrous first half hadn’t finished there. Just before the whistle keeper Dayle Schroeder accidentally flattened Leticia Mckenna to concede a spot-kick. With NTC’s regular penalty taker receiving treatment, her younger sister Tijan McKenna took over the duties and stuck it away.

Lyons pulled one back for Fremantle on 61 minutes when she raced on to Evie Marchetti pass and took the ball around Templeman before netting. However, any thoughts of an unlikely recovery were snuffed out almost instantly when Armstrong again dispossessed Waltman and this time Green was on hand to bury the chance.

NTC’s sixth was the result of another turnover from Freo. Steffi Nadilo ran in to trouble and gave the ball straight to the outstanding Hana Lowry, who exchanged passes with Leticia McKenna before setting up Monique Prinsloo for an easy finish.

The win lifts NTC to third, a point behind leaders Murdoch University Melville and Perth SC. Fremantle remain in sixth.

Perth SC got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Subiaco at Dorrien Gardens.

The visitors, bolstered by their draw with Hyundai NTC, set up well and kept the Azzurri goalless until the 65^th minute, when Abbey Meakins turned Jeanette Gordon in the box and fired low past Marissa Pidgeon.

Having been forced to wait over an hour for the breakthrough, Perth quickly added a second. A neat passage of play resulted in Emily Henderson crossing for skipper Jaime Duncanson to ghost in and head home.

The third, in stoppage time, was the pick of the goals. Subiaco lost the ball and Meakins curled a belter into the top corner.

Perth, who suffered their first loss of the season to MUM FC last week, are up to second on goal difference.

Balcatta and Northern Redbacks shared the points in a tight tussle at Grindleford Reserve.

Redbacks struck first just before the hour. A corner from the left was half cleared to Sarah Carroll 12 yards out and she thumped the ball beyond keeper Gabby Dal Busco for her fifth goal of the season.

Balcatta’s equaliser 18 minutes later was a similar story. The ball came in from the left, Redbacks’ defence didn’t deal with it properly and Caitlin Doeglas cracked a shot which Renee Leota - in goal after Morgan Aquino was injured - was unable to keep out.

Neither side did enough to force a winner and attention now turns to two big games next week when Balcatta take on second-place NTC while Redbacks host top-of-the-table MUM FC.

On Friday night, Murdoch University Melville beat Curtin University 6-0.
