Dual AFL Premiership coach Denis Pagan will coach the Northern Knights in the TAC Cup in 2009.
Pagan replaces outgoing Knights coach Paul Satterley, who stepped aside owing to increased work commitments.
Pagan brings to the TAC Cup a wealth of elite coaching experience and a bank of junior coaching honours.
Pagan-coached sides, from Under-19s through to AFL, reached the finals every year from 1983 to 2000. In addition to two premierships at North Melbourne, he also coached North Melbourne to a record seven consecutive AFL preliminary finals.
Pagan also has a phenomenal junior coaching record, taking the North Melbourne Under-19s to five flags.
AFL Victoria CEO Peter Schwab said the TAC Cup was pleased to attract a coach of Denis Pagan’s stature.
“Denis brings an enormous coaching record and has had success at not only the elite level, but also at a development level,” Schwab said.
“He will be able to teach junior talent in Melbourne’s northern suburbs the fundamentals that saw his sides claim two AFL premiership cups.”
