RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE
Firstly, we appreciate your ongoing leadership throughout this challenging period, particularly as clubs navigate the Return to Training – Level B protocols. As discussed last week, in reference to both SANFL’s Return to Play Roadmap and the State Government Roadmap, the next key date with respect to COVID-19 restrictions announcements is June 5. SANFL will hold a meeting with Community League Presidents/Secretaries, Adelaide Footy League and SANFL Juniors representatives on June 9. At that point in time, we expect to have further and more detailed information relating to a return to play for football in South Australia. In the interim, SANFL continue to work with State Government and the health authorities to seek clarity on the timelines and protocols that may be required to enable full squad training, the resumption of competition and when/if spectators may return (including the provision of food and beverage). As has been highlighted, the circumstances and restrictions surrounding COVID-19 are evolving and improving rapidly. If and when relevant information arises, which given the fluid nature of the situation may occur at any time, we will inform leagues and clubs as soon as possible. As such, and notwithstanding the patience required during this uncertain and unprecedented time, we recommend that clubs and leagues delay any announcement around the 2020 season until we have received further information and clarity from State Government - which we will discuss in detail with League Presidents/Secretaries on 9 June, to allow leagues and clubs to make an informed decision. We thank you for your continued work, support and understanding as you lead your football clubs and communities through this period. STATEWIDE SUPER VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
SANFL is celebrating National Volunteer Week by recognising its tireless volunteers at football clubs across the state. Each week, tens of thousands of volunteers roll up their sleeves at junior and senior level to ensure the game of Australian Football runs smoothly in South Australia. There's no doubting that 2020 has been one of the most challenging years for volunteers as they navigate their clubs and leagues through the Covid-19 shutdown period.Whether they be administrators, umpires, trainers, scoreboard attendants, timekeepers or work in the canteen or BBQ, volunteers show a tremendous amount of unwavering loyalty to their football club or league. And there's been no better example of this than this year from volunteers at SANFL clubs, SANFL’s Community Football Leagues, SANFL Juniors Competition and the SANFL APY League in the far north of South Australia.Entering its fourth year, SANFL will again be seeking nominations for the SANFL Statewide Super Volunteer of the Year Award, which has previously been won by Millicent’s Craig Tunkin (2017), Crystal Brook’s Mick Fogarty (2018) and Bridgewater/Callington's Andrew Frazer (2019).Now more than ever presents itself as the ideal opportunity to nominate a worthy candidate from your club for the 2020 SANFL Statewide Super Volunteer of the Year Award.Stay tuned to the SANFL website for your chance to nominate a loyal volunteer, with nominations set to open on June 1.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
