These sessions will be allocated by our WABL administrator and Talent & Coaching Manager and teams will need to abide by the strict guidelines of a maximum of 10 players per court, 3 x coaches/managers, players to bring their own ball and adhere to the non-contact guidelines currently in place. Basketball WA is targeting a potential return to WABL competition in late July and further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Tigers Café

We will be re-opening the Tigers café in the very near future several mornings a week, and will be advertising some coffee/cake specials for the local community to enjoy. This will a great way to show your support to WBA by dropping in and supporting our café.  Keep an eye on the website and social media for opening times as they will be announced soon.

Domestic Competitions – Junior & Senior & requirements / restrictions

WBA is aiming for a return to domestic competitions as soon as practically possible once we enter Phase 3 of the State Government’s Covid-19 – plan. At the current time this is estimated to be in late June but is obviously subject to change dependent on State Government/BWA advice and the restrictions we will be operating under at this stage are not yet known by WBA.

Our domestic clubs will this week be provided with a timeline to work towards resumption of competitions and this will ensure we are in a position to move relatively quickly when given permission to progress to competition play.

It is important to reiterate when we do return to competitions it will not be in the same format as previously existed: there will be longer breaks in between games and the numbers of people allowed to enter the stadium (including parents) will be heavily restricted initially, and gradually relaxed in due course. We are working hard at developing a plan for game day/nights that will make it as easy as we can for all stadium patrons to enjoy being back playing basketball again.

Unfortunately due to the restrictions in place at present, WBA will not be able to offer domestic teams the ability to train within Willetton Stadium in the foreseeable future, I ask that if domestic teams are commencing a form of training in coming weeks that you ensure compliance to the BWA guidelines in place for training at present.

In closing I would like to thank everyone for your patience and support over the past 2 months, we are moving in the right direction and I can’t wait to hear the whistles, sirens and sounds of people back enjoying this wonderful new stadium.

If anyone has any questions on any of the above please feel free to get in contact with me.
