SA COUNTRY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SANFL, in a united decision with the AFL and all other State Leagues across Australia, postponed the 2020 football season in response to the coronavirus pandemic until May 31, including training.
Reflecting the ongoing disruption and economic impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on football, as well as the wider community, SANFL has made the decision to cancel the 2020 SA Country Football Championships scheduled for the weekend of 10-12 July in Kadina. In that respect, we acknowledge both the Kadina FC and the Copper Coast Council, and the work conducted up until this point in time.
This decision is based on allowing community based competitions to maximise the number of matches they can fixture if/when it is safe for football to resume in 2020, as well as providing much needed financial relief for the event hosts, organisers and competing zones.
As such, a follow on implication from the above is that the State Country Game against Western Australia has also been cancelled in 2020.
The SA Country Football Championships and State Team Programs create valuable pathways from regional football to SANFL and AFL men’s and women’s competitions, as well as delivering significant economic impact for the host region.
SANFL recognises the importance of the SA Country Football Championships and associated programs, and as such is committed to ensuring it resumes in the future.

Earlier this week your club should have received a financial tool via email from your League or directly from SANFL. The tool and accompanying guide aim to help community clubs estimate their revenue shortfall as a result of COVID-19, estimate and consider ways to reduce expenditure and understand the net impact on the club.
We encourage clubs to complete the tool, and if your club is comfortable to share the information with SANFL. Please email your completed spreadsheet to communityfootball@sanfl.com.au.
The more information SANFL collects in regard to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the more support initiatives we can put in place to ensure the ongoing sustainability of our clubs.

REGISTRATION FEES & OTHER FAQs
|
|
|
|

|
|
SANFL, in consultation with AFL and all other State/Territory Bodies recommend that clubs hold player registration fees until the season is completed. Whilst we are all working toward recommencement on May 31, Leagues may also be exploring the possibility to extend the season.
Given the uncertainty around the length of seasons, we recommend clubs hold player registration fees and revisit this issue at the end of season once the season structure has been confirmed.
Further to the above, the same principle applies with respect to the Player Registration Fee ($15/$10 for Adult/Junior). More information will be provided regarding this matter once we have confirmed when/if football recommences.
Visit the SANFL Covid-19 FAQ web page for any other queries you may have.

SANFL are working closely with the AFL and the national insurer (Marsh Insurance) to provide relief to clubs for 2020 insurance. At this point in time, the informal advice is that there will be a level of discount on Personal Accident/Injury Cover, however the Public Liability component will remain in full.
We will update clubs and leagues as soon as there is further clarity.
