30 March 2020
Matt Cook and I attended (via video link) the Mortlock Shield management committee meeting and the Western zone meeting.
Minutes of these will become available soon, but we wanted to let all clubs know that the Mortlock Shield has been cancelled for 2020.
The 3 way Interleague game is also cancelled and not going to be rescheduled as it was programmed to fall before May 31.
No resolution has been made regarding Norwood Cup and Kinlough Cup competitions at this point, this is to be determined by the Junior zone committee.
We will have further information in coming days from the SANFL as to the future of SANFL funded competitions such as country championships.
The advice from SANFL and the Zone committee is for the clubs NOT to hold any club sanctioned or organised events INCLUDING TRAINING during this time.
If players and individuals wish to do their own personal fitness and have a kick of the footy, they may do so but they do so without Insurance cover and no risk or liability falls back to the clubs. Provided also they follow the government policies and conditions with regard to social distancing.
Last night we have seen the banning of opening of clubs and other social gathering facilities so this must be taken into consideration also.
We will forward any further information as soon as it comes to hand.
Further to that, we would like this information and any other communications we have sent out to clubs via this email list to be posted on club messenger groups or facebook pages in an attempt to make sure as many people within your clubs are notified as soon as possible of these updates.
Communication amongst our community is vital for the messages to get through.
Please follow the health guidelines issued by the relevant governments and stay healthy during these challenging and unprecedented times.
