Bushfire Appeal Round
As per Matt’s email last week, there will be a dedicated Bushfire Appeal Round to be held on May 22nd , we encourage all Clubs and Leagues to raise money across the weekend (or in the lead up) through any avenue you feel best fits your League. Further details and additional opportunities of engagement will be discussed at the League Forum on February 29th.
Club Education Sessions
Due to volunteer turnover we encourage Leagues to book in refresher training sessions for their clubs on Regulation 31 (Player Payments) and Approved Player Points System. There have been 5 clubs in 2019 who have reported administrative breaches of Regulation 31. It is in everyone’s best interests that Leagues arrange a date for a refresher session with Community Football for their Club’s to attend.
Sessions can be booked through Scott Patching at scott.patching@sanfl.com.au
Regulation 31
Please see attached the 2020 version of the Regulation 31 Player Payments Spreadsheet. This is the only version that will be accepted.
Club Development Day
This year’s Club Development Day will be run on Saturday 29th February from 10.30am - 5pm. The League Forum will run alongside the Club Development Day event however Leagues will have the opportunity to attend the Guest Speaker and sessions during the day. Registrations are now open

Footyweb | Online Payments
With the introduction of the State fee payable at registration we have seen an increase in the number of clubs collecting their registration fees online. Because of this we have seen some common questions come through in relation to payments
Sports Vouchers & the State Fee
Under the advice from Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing the state fee is not eligible to be claimed under the Sports Voucher model as it is not classed as a Club Membership fee
Players skipping payments
If a club has set mandatory payments of their club fees and a player has skipped payment it can only be for 2 reasons
- The player has registered using the league registration form rather than club form. We recommend that leagues remove links to the league form from their websites and publish club links instead
- The link in the member renewal emails expires after 30 days, if a link sent over 30 days prior they will be directed to the league registration form (as above). For this we recommend sending out member renewals at least every 30 days (any player already registered will not receive the email again)
Payment Plans
The system itself isn’t set up for payment plans in terms of payment reminders or processing payments after the initial payment is made at registration.
But there are a couple of options that can be used that require some manual chasing of money and input
- The club can add a question to the form that asks if the person wants to go on a payment plan then apply a conditional products to that whereby if they select Yes they see the first instalment, if they say no they see the full amount
- Issue with this is people using that to get out of full payment
- The can manually turn on and off the payment plan deposit/full fee product for those people who are eligible for the payment plan
- Less chance of being abused, more work for the club
ANZAC Day
Attached is the 2019 advice from ORSR in relation to ANZAC day matches. To date we are unable to get a 2020 version however, the Act has not changed in this time and as such the advice in this document applies to 2020. Advice relating to Community Football Leagues can be found at the bottom of page 1 and further information at the bottom of page 2.
SANFL encourages Leagues and Clubs to support the promotion of the day and recognise the courage and perseverance of those who have served, fought and given their lives in the military. We encourage Leagues to reach out to their local RSL or Veterans groups to take part in the day and pay their respects.
