Volleyball Victoria received several submissions regarding the 2020 State League season.
The following outlines the proposals received and the determination of the Board:
DANDENONG VOLLEYBALL CLUB REQUEST EXEMPTION FROM BY-LAW 4.8 TO ENTER PREMIER WOMEN'S
The Volleyball Victoria Board agreed to grant Dandenong Volleyball Club exemption from By-Law 4.8 to enter Premier Women's for the 2020 State League season.
Dandenong Volleyball Club meet all requirements for a Premier Women's team and have, over many years, demonstrated a successful volleyball program. In recent years Dandenong Volleyball Club have also outlined their clear strategic direction to ensure continued success in the Volleyball Victoria State League. Dandenong Volleyball Club has consistently increased entries in State League and have had demonstrated they would be competitive in Premier Women's after their previous results in the Reserves Women's division.
MAZENOD VOLLEYBALL CLUB REQUEST EXEMPTION FROM BY-LAW 4.9 TO ENTER RESERVE WOMEN’S
The Volleyball Victoria Board agreed to grant Mazenod Volleyball Club exemption from By-Law 4.9 to enter Reserve Men’s Women’s for the 2020 State League season.
Mazenod Volleyball Club have demonstrated a successful volleyball program over many years and presented a clear strategic direction to ensure continued success in the Volleyball Victoria State League. Mazenod Volleyball Club has consistently increased entries in State League, including demonstrating a commitment to growth through a successful Junior State League program. The Club’s results in Division 2 in 2019 demonstrated that the club would be competitive in the Reserves divisions.
MONASH UNIVERSITY TO ENTER TWO TEAMS IN MEN’S RESERVES
In the 2018 & 2019 seasons Monash demonstrated that the second Men's Reserves team was competitive, did not adversely affect the competition, and was sustainable.
The opportunity for a second Reserves team was conditionally accepted:
- Players can't transfer between teams in Reserves after Round 3
- Only one Reserves team can provide players to the Premier division
- Players from Division 2 can go up into either Reserves team
- In Premier division, there can only be one team per club
- Only the higher ranked Reserves Men's team will receive points towards the Tomas Santamaria Shield
YARRA RANGES TO ENTER TWO TEAMS IN WOMEN’S RESERVES
In the 2019 season Yarra Ranges demonstrated that the second Women's Reserves team was competitive, did not adversely affect the competition, and was sustainable.
The opportunity for a second Reserves team was conditionally accepted:
- Players can't transfer between teams in Reserves after Round 3
- Only one Reserves team can provide players to the Premier division
- Players from Division 2 can go up into either Reserves team
- In Premier division, there can only be one team per club
