JUNIOR DOMESTIC AWARDS

Awards are open to players and referees U10-U18 unless otherwise stated. These awards are presented at the end of year celebration event and nominations can be made by any member of the SBA community.

Junior Player of the Year

Given to a male and female player of any age playing in the U14-U18 domestic competition who shows commitment to basketball and SBA.

Things to consider when nominating a player for this award:

  • Awarded not only for skill but also for commitment to basketball and SBA.
  • Demonstrates good sportsmanship by being a supportive team mate and generous player.
  • Regularly helps at Miniball either with bench, refereeing or assisting U10 teams.
  • Seeks additional training opportunities such as skills clinics.
  • Attends senior games to support the club.
  • Is generally helpful and friendly around the stadium.
  • This person should be a good role model for younger players.

Miniballer of the year Male & Female

Given to a top age male and female player graduating from the U12 domestic competition who shows commitment to basketball and SBA.

Things to consider when nominating a player for this award:

  • Awarded not only for skill but also for commitment to basketball and SBA.
  • Demonstrates good sportsmanship by being a supportive team mate and generous player.
  • Regularly helps at Miniball either with bench, refereeing or assisting U10 teams.
  • Seeks additional training opportunities such as skills clinics.
  • Attends senior games to support the club.
  • Is generally helpful and friendly around the stadium.
  • This person should be a good role model for younger players.

Junior Domestic Referee of the Year

Open to referees of any age who regularly referee Junior games (U10-U18).

The criteria set out for this award is:

  • Shows a commitment to refereeing and lifting the standard of basketball at SBA.
  • Demonstrates a desire to improve by attending relevant development opportunities.
  • Has shown progression and improvement as a referee throughout the year.

Miniball Referee of the year

Open to any junior referee who regularly referees U10-U12 games.

The criteria set out for this award is:

  • Shows commitment to refereeing and assists younger players to develop their knowledge of the game.
  • Demonstrates a desire to improve by seeking feedback and attending relevant development
  • opportunities.
    • Has shown progression and improvement as a referee throughout the year.
    • Is generally helpful and friendly around the stadium
