Summer 2020 Teams and training times now available

The Summer 2020 teams and team training details are available below. We have 951 players in a record 114 teams.

A great deal of time has been spent by the Composition Subcommittees trying to satisfy player requests and wherever possible we have done so.

Thank you to those people who have volunteered as coaches or team managers. We still need more, so if you or someone you know can help with any of the teams, please email juniordomestic@collingwoodbasketball.com.au.

Please note that any queries regarding the teams should be emailed to the above email address. Queries will be responded to as soon as we are able.

Training & Matches

Girls training is on Monday nights and will commence on 7th October, and boys training is on Thursday nights and will commence on 10th October. Training times and venues are available in the attachment below. Training times and venues will change when we are able to use Collingwood College - expected to be mid November.

The first match for the Winter season is on Saturday 12th October. Fixtures for the first round are available on the EDJBA website and available in PDF documents below.

Venue details are available here and in the PDF document below. Dates for the Summer season are available here.

Domestic Singlets and Shorts

Any player who does not have a Collingwood domestic singlet or shorts can purchase them at the club office at 221 Johnston St, Abbotsford. We are usually open for uniform sales on Thursdays between 4pm and 7pm, at the beginning of the season until 8pm.

Please note that between 4.00 and 6.30pm on weeknights, no parking is allowed on the north side of Johnston St, opposite the office. It is a clearway so please don't park there or your car will be towed away!

The cost of the uniform is: Reversible singlet $55, Shorts $45, Reversible singlet and shorts bought at same time $95. Uniforms can be paid for by EFTPOS or cash. All Stars merchandise including short and long sleeved Tshirts, hoodies, socks, beanies, warmup tops and bags will also be on sale.

If your child is a new player and will be using a second hand singlet, please advise the number so we can include it in our records.

If you have any queries regarding uniforms, please email uniforms@collingwoodbasketball.com.au

Team Managers and Coaches

Thank you to the many people who have volunteered to be coaches or team managers. We still have quite a number of gaps for coaches and team managers – if you can help out or suggest people who might be able to help please email juniordomestic@collingwoodbasketball.com.au

If you know of anyone else who is interested in joining a team, please ask them to email email juniordomestic@collingwoodbasketball.com.au. We already have some players on waiting lists to join teams.

If you are coaching in the Summer: Please advise if there are any restrictions on your availability for coaching on Saturdays such as work commitments so we can try to accommodate.

If you are managing a team in the Summer: You will be emailed player and coach contact details as soon as possible. You will also receive information about what you need to do in the first couple of weeks of team managing. Most of the information the players in your team need to know will be emailed to them and/or is available here. A Team Manager's information night will be held on Tuesday 29th October at 7.30pm at Spensley St Primary School. This will be aimed primarily at new team managers. A team manager’s handbook is also available.

As previously advised, game fees will no longer be collected at games.

Further Information for Round 1:

Scoring

The EDJBA uses stadium scoring. This means a laptop computer is used instead of a paper scoresheet on the scorebench. More information about stadium scoring is available here. As a minimum, parents should read the Scorer’s guide, and the Team Managers Stadium Scoring guide is also available.

  • At the beginning of each game, team information needs to be set up. Players expected to play need to be selected. It’s really important that following the completion of the previous game, Team Managers (or an informed parent or the coach) go to the scorebench and ensure the "scoresheet" is set up correctly. Singlet numbers will need to be set up for players in round 1 so this may take some extra time
  • If any player is not listed and you need to add them (eg they are new to the team or they are filling in), you need their name, date of birth, suburb and postcode
  • When prompted for the coach’s name during setup, please choose “NO COACH”. Please DO NOT add the coach’s name to the team. You do not need to enter their details such as date of birth

Cashless Game Days

This season the EDJBA has introduced cashless game days so team managers do not need to collect any money at games.

Molten Game Balls

This season the EDJBA and Molten have a partnership which sees Molten providing game balls for all game venues. This weekend all games except for under 8s will be playing with the new ball supplied by Molten.

If this is your first season of basketball here is some further information about the season:

Matches and Fixtures

The Saturday competition is run by the EDJBA (Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association). Fixtures are published on the EDJBA website and team managers (once organised) will also email fixture information to families. The first round of fixtures for the 12th October will be available shortly. The first six weeks are grading rounds. Fixtures will be published mid weekly for the next 6 rounds, and then the rest of the season will be published.

Summer Team Contact Information

Contact information for players and coaches will be sent to team managers as soon as possible. The team managers will then make contact with you and provide you with their contact details. Don’t stress if you haven’t heard from them before the first training session. Check your player's team and training time in the document below and purchase a uniform at the times listed above.First round game details will be available shortly.

Good luck in the Summer season and Go All Stars!
