Geelong Galaxy United FC Media Statement

Football Victoria (FV) have advised Geelong Galaxy United FC that a Senior and U19 NPLW participation license will not be issued to the club for season 2020.

Galaxy are very disappointed with this decision as it removes a senior NPLW licence from the Geelong region and our club. It removes the opportunity for football and pathways development of many young women in this region.

The club is committed to work with FV to strengthen its governance practices and player development programs to ensure we become a strong candidate for entry back into the NPLW at the earliest next opportunity.

The club has been a member of the NPLW since its inception. It has provided and strived to deliver an effective elite pathway for female footballers in the Geelong region. Our Senior team has been very successful, reaching the competition Grand Final on two separate occasions. The successes show the club has in place capable player development programs and administration that can deliver results.

Galaxy remains motivated to promote, nurture and encourage female footballers of our beautiful game. The club is committed to having all its teams participating at NPLW level.
