Theodosiades nets late Perth winner
Football West News
The spirit which has helped Perth SC win back to back titles shone through again on Saturday as they claimed a 4-3 win at Cockburn City.
In a see-saw match with little riding on it other than pride, it turned out to be a cracker.
Cockburn struck first when referee Josh Nixon spotted an elbow by Perth skipper Harley Orr and pointed to the spot, Daniel Robinson converting the 27th-minute penalty.
The champions didn't take long to get on terms, however, as Bojan Radinovic headed in Niccolo Sabatini's corner.
The score stayed at 1-1 a the break. But seven minutes into the second half Perth were 3-1 ahead.
First Sabatini cashed in on Daniel Dols' miscontrol and slipped in Michael Domfeh to score.
And Domfeh was on target again from another Sabatini through ball to make it 3-1.
Cockburn went route one to pull one back on 59 minutes. Dols slung a deep cross into the box and Anthony Skorich outjumped keeper Francis Soale to head home.
The goal gave City fresh belief and they made it 3-3 six minutes from the end when Devon Gibson smartly turned in Jesse Lazzarro's left-wing centre.
But Perth came again like the champions they are and found a winner two minutes into stoppage time. The Cockburn defence was unable to deal with Domfeh and the big striker forced a mistake which resulted in the ball spinning out to Andreas Theodosiades, whose volley went under keeper Luke Radonich and into the net.
