The League’s best will be determined following the second semi finals at Warramboo. Plenty of players coming off great seasons, but who have caught the umpires eye?
There is little doubt that as a club, the West Coast Hawks will get plenty, but a real key to the Hawks success is a shared workload, and therefore likely sharing of the votes too. Another big season from 2017 Mail Medallist Dylan Kelsh, boom recruits Jess Kenny and Jack Burton are in and around the ball most of the day, Jake Mc Evoy with speed and leaping ability, Mark Dolling either forward or in the middle is all class, missed a few games here and there but starred in plenty too! Braden Holmes a big year with 60 goals, high leaping Cam Montgomerie, Joe Mc Innis, the list goes on! Many big wins over the season for the Hawks, the flying Hawks are irresistible.
Central Eyre are back in their well accustomed top two position, and they too may expect a swag load of club votes. Jesse Stringer and Jake prime movers week in and week out, Clint Winter, particularly later in the year showed everyone his tricks, big Tasman Fitzgerald clean marking and long kicking, Jared Sampson a past medal winner and silky smooth with the footy, evergreen Kane Sampson a regular vote winner, more time up field this year too, Ty Mc Kenna in the ruck and key position roles will get attention, Corey Waters didn’t play many games, but when he did is head turning with his speed and guile
Wudinna United have enjoyed a resurgent year, really getting themselves moving in the second half. Many contributors again a key, big name expat recruits stealing the limelight. Ricky and Jonty Seal forward and mid field turn heads, big man Izaac Boylan sours over pack and wins big possession, Ian Jericho gets big jobs on key opposition, but played on the ball also this year. Cody Boylan has been superb, along with high flying old timer Heath Zwar. Remi North in the centre and late season Dan Foster impressive
Western Districts are regular big vote winners, led by Scooter Feltus with seven finishes in the top two. The great man himself missed a few matches this year, State duty and a bit of injury also. Charlie Williams a huge possession winner, particularly early in the season, but consistent throughout, Big recruit Broadie Chandler at the bottom of packs and on the run has played some huge games, Damon King -O’ Loughlin a key go to forward, big marks and contested football master, Zane Montgomerie classy on the ground and in the air, Braydn Hedley-King a head turning speedster and Joe Williams prolific from a defence base, but not frightened to surge forward from time to time for a ping at goal.
Wirrulla missing the finals but have had a heart breaking run of being at the wrong end of close games. Prime movers are Mitchell Gum and Ryan Watson. Week in and week out these guy give their heart and soul for the Bomber cause, Mitch taking out the League’s MVP again and the reigning Mail Medallist, Ryan one of the biggest possession winners across the League. Matt Kelsh has had a great year all year, strong mark and fast mover, Simon Webb the big forward target and another productive year, proven vote winner, Ryleigh Myles an inspiration, in and under.
Elliston have endured a tough year, no doubt, but look at the names at that they boast at the top. Matthew Williams, Steve Paul, Ross Bascomb will hold their own at any club, classy operators and in at every contest. Ross the only player fronting in all 15 games at the club. Sam Cassanova a performer every week, Andrew Mc Leod a real X factor, although missing a few games also. Josh Redden is a hard worker, consistent season, Glen Tonkin big marking skills on show and Dale Bache has been a revelation, consistently high in the best.
