Dogs back to their accustomary top two position, can the chasers pull them back now? Wirrulla regain pride, but not before a big contest at the coast and the Hawks keep on keeping on, another challenger dispatched ths week!
Centrals ran out convincing 35 point winners against the Magpies at the 'Boo, Wudinna United drawing to within 2 points early in the last quarter before an avalanche by the 'dogs in the end, kicking the final six goals of the match, seven all up in the 4th quarter without a miss. Big marking forwards the key, but a ruthlessly efficient surge from the midfield providing a quick supply, Jesse Stinger, Jared Sampson, Jake Sampson heading the charge. Kane Sampson, Tasman Fitzgerald, Kane Grocke and Jordan Stutley all taking big marks in the feeding frenzy. Ty McKenna a great game, either rucking or accross half back.
Wudinna United competive for so long, and likley matching the dogs in disposal volume, but not with the same polish. Ian Jericho another big game, Remi North around the centre. Ryan Lymn a great effort off the wing, hard running and one of the better ball users at the club. Ricky Seal had plenty of the football and advice for his oppositon, Adam Jericho and Izaac Boylan good all day, Jonty Seal and Dan Foster providing good targets, but too often missed by their team mates upfield!
The Maggies front the Hawks this week at Wudinna, a good showing needed to deliver on early season promise, especially at the Magpie nest!
The Bombers were made to work hard by the Roosters, 51 point winners for the road trip. Big guns again standing out, Mitchell Gum and Matt Kelsh leading the way, evergreen Ryan Watson in everything as always, Ben Brown and Rowan Chester great games also, Darci Best kicking hs first A Grade goal, expect plenty more in future! Goals shared, Rob Holmes, Simon Webb and Ryan Watson two each.
Elliston have been undermanned most of the year but play with a big heart and pride for the red and white. Captain Ross Bascomb leading the way, pulling doen a great mark also, Andrew Mc Leod, Steve Paul and Dale Bache all big contributors, Josh Redden another in the midst of a great year.
Bomber coach Mini Lawrie will be happy with the win, a long way from home and must feel what may have been given the close losses the Bombers have had over the season. Tough task at home next match, hosting the Bulldogs who are building towards their 2019 finals assault.
The Hawks re asserted themselves, this time over challenger the Tigers who will be disspointed not to be closer given the time of year. The Districts boys fight another day and will play a big part in finals, they clearly know how high the bar is now!
Good players everywhere at the Hawks, just how they like it. Jack Burton in the centre leading the way, welcome back Dillon Montgomerie, straight back to his best, Mark Mc Evoy, versatile, a true utility player, Mark Dolling a luxury up forward, seven goals this week and heading up the league goal kickers list quickly, Nick Schumann with pace and enthusiasm, another quietly haing a great season. Dolling seven, Dil Montgomerie 4, Aiden Whitford 4, Braden Holmes 3 there are options aplenty for the fleet footed Hawk machine.
Districts again headed by Broadie Chandler, a hard ball winner and classy when he has it in the open, Kevin Brands, Kade Gill in defence, Charlie Williams and Thomas Lee trying hard all day. Collectively the side just could not stop the bleeding with the Hawks winning every quarter.
Back to the drawing board for the Tigers, but they do have the team to challenge anyone on their day, this just wasnt their day! Refocus against the Roosters at Minnipa coming up, while the Roosters are down in personnel this year, Districts have never found this match easy, in fact no other club in recent times have inflicted so much pain in crucial games than the Roosters have on the Tige's!
