The close one was at Wudinna where rivals Wudinna United and Western Districts slugged it out, the Magpies kicking two late goals to win by seven points, goals to brothers Ricky Seal and Jonty Seal sealing the victory, each claiming responsibility and hero status for the win! Unlikely to be the last encounter for these two well matched teams in 2019, as they appear to have sealed finals qualification. Tiger coach Scott Feltus away in Perth on State duties, and missed. Balancing this loss was the late withdrawal by evergreen Magpie champ Henry Zwar. No foul for the Tigers, they are well in the finals race and both teams can still target a double chance.
On the double chance, Central Eyre moved back into their accustomed top two position with a big win over the undermanned Roosters at Kyancutta. Good hit out at home for the Dogs, but they will know that tougher assignments lay ahead, starting with this week's derby at Warramboo against the Magpies. All the Dog heavy lifters in good form, with special mention to 300 gamer Ryan Sampson, former captain and six goals, he has been a stellar performer over a long period at the Kennel. Elliston called for all hands, with many older stagers returning to assist, Tyson Mc Dougall, Rob Thompson, Fred Romanowycz, Steve Agars back in action.
The Hawks again produced a clear margin on the scoreboard at Wirrulla, but much tougher on the track, as the Bombers competed hard all the way. Too many scoring options for the Hawks who are playing an irrestible brand of footy! Good players for both sides, and an entertaining game between these two at times unfriendly neighbors! Wirrulla will have a big say on how the four is made up, but need a miracle to feature in finals now. Who can catch those Hawks?
Central Eyre, Western Districts and Wudinna United are locked in a fascinating battle for finals places, and are all very capable sides.
