Round 12 Match Reports and Awards
Mitcham under 9 Black vs Blackburn Black
We played a very good Blackburn side today at Morton Park. Our captain today was Zach who had a terrific game and also won the medal. We gave out two Zagame's awards today. The first went to Jake (The Extractor) who earned a second nickname today of "Bulldog" as he was relentless at going after the ball. Our second Zagame's award went to Thomas (The Terminator) who, along with Jake, was our contested ball king and also kicked a great long goal to level the scores in the last quarter. Our milkshake went to Michael (The Smiling Assassin) for his fantastic run. All day Michael ran the ball out of defense or through the middle. Ethan S (Captain Tenacious) won our Fish & Chip award for a fantastic game and looking after his mates which was a great example to the rest of the team. Special mentions to Jack (The Package) for some great play which included 2 goals, some beautiful intercepts and a kick in the teeth for his trouble. Camden (The Bull) also had a great game and Ben (The Aviator) used the ball beautifully. It was a great game to watch today with both teams dominated periods of the game. Although we don't keep score it was 7 goals a piece today and the rivalry with Blackburn continues. Go Blacks

Mitcham Under 13A 20-8 (128) defeated Croydon 0-2 (2)
Welcome back to Luke Fr & Peter C who both returned to our side after long term injures. We had Croydon at Koonung Reserve, our ball use could have been better at times but it was pleasing to see the boys sort out our ball movement. Our on field leaders implemented the change showing leadership beyond their years. We rotated the boys around in the second half providing the boys with more opportunities. Our run and carry was excellent along with our contested pressure.
