Match wrap: Late excitement sees Perth SC held
Football West News
All of the drama in Perth SC’s home clash with Bayswater City came in second-half stoppage time as the NPL WA leaders were forced to settle for a point at Dorrien Gardens.
Ramon Falzon’s side looked to have sealed another victory when Gustavo Catarcione finished a flowing move to break the deadlock.
But there was enough time remaining for Bayswater to rescue themselves and that they did with defender Adam Tong popping up with the equaliser in the 93rd minute.
With second-place Floreat Athena defeating Balcatta 1-0 at E&D Litis Stadium, it means Perth’s lead is still a comfortable eight points with just six league matches to play.
Inglewood United moved into third spot after they recovered from going behind against Armadale to win 2-1.
Armadale stay second from bottom, three points above Stirling, and they will be grateful the Lions were twice unable to hold on to the lead in their 2-2 draw with Cockburn City.
ECU Joondalup, who are third from bottom, were another side reflecting on a missed opportunity. They raced into a two-goal lead at Rockingham City but that also finished 2-2 thanks to James Harmer’s late goal.
The early game on Saturday was a five-goal thriller with Sorrento beating Perth Glory 3-2.
The NPL WA takes a break this weekend, with Bayswater and Floreat meeting in the Belt Up Cup Final at Dorrien Gardens on Saturday afternoon.
