A recent vacancy on the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League Board following the resignation of Quentin Thomson to take up a position on the AFL Goulburn Murray Commission, has been filled by former Echuca FNC President Brett Stevens.
GOTAFE GVL Chairman David Roff was full of praise for Thomson’s service to the League, since being elected at the 2015 Annual General Meeting.
“Quentin has made a tremendous contribution to the League during some very important times including the move to administration under AFL Goulburn Murray, the merge of the football and netball Leagues and more recently, the push for an Under 16 competition. On behalf of the League, I’d like to thank Quentin for his service”, stated Roff
“Brett Stevens is a very experienced football person in the GOTAFE GVL, having been President of Echuca FNC from 2013 – 2017. He attended many League meetings during this time and is well known throughout the League”, stated Roff.
“Brett has been appointed to fill this casual vacancy per the League’s rules and will be required to renominate at this year’s AGM if he wishes to continue on the Board. The Board members are looking forward to working with Brett for the remainder of the 2019 season.”
Stevens, having not been involved in any official capacity in the League since the end of 2017, is looking forward to his role on the Board.
“David Roff called me a few weeks ago and asked if I’d be interested in joining the Board for the 2019 season. I was pleased to be able to agree to join the Board and I’m keen to get involved having already been to a League General meeting in May”, Stevens said.
“I am confident that my experience can be used to assist the League and our member clubs.”
