Tigers and Magpies fought out a thrilling draw at Poochera, good for the spectators but for the players and coaches, nobody knows whether to be happy or sad after so much effort. Close all day and chances by both teams to take the chocolates all to themselves! Damon King another four telling goals, Joe Williams leading the way for the Tigers, big season in progress, judges the ball well and great decision maker, Tom Lee high in the best, Scott Feltus loves these close hard matches, Andrew Miller a go to target all day and Charlie Williams continuing with his stellar season. Broadie Chandler strong in the centre. Wudinna Unted best served by Izaac Boylan, deceptively quick for a big man (just like his father) and a wonderful one grab mark, Josh Mitchell from half back mainly, enjoying a great season. Henry Zwar turning the clock back years with regular features in the best, Jonty and Ricky Seal huge contributors all day.
Tigers happy with where they are at for now, second and lots to look forward to, similarly the Magpies may have weathered the worst of their injuries and finding themselves back in the four.
The Hawks held off a determined Bombers at Wirrulla, 35 points comfortable for most, but much closer than the beltings that they have been handing out in recent times. Some concern on the injury front with several sore, Cam Montgomerie's pesky hammy still no good. Big Dylan Kelsh leading the best, and rounding out that common feel, Jess Kenny and Jack Burton again prominent. Shannon Haynes probably his best match for the year and he will be dangerous in the second half of the year. Veteran Nick Schumann rounding out the best, although his excitement did bubble over at one point, he and Ryleigh Myles enjoying an enforced 10 minutes rest on the pine with their respective coaching staff! Ryleigh leading the Bombers best, what a great pick up he has been for the Bombers, the hustle and bustle of Ryan Watson again to the fore, Matt Kelsh important each week for his side, Mitch Gum classy again, and Milton Kelsh a great game.
Hawks undefeated and the team to beat at the break. Wirrulla should be pleased with their effort, not a win, but no damage and improving weekly. They wont want injury, but are settling into a game style now so must reasonably expect finals action.
Centrals had quite a fight on their hands at Elliston, however found themselves space in the final quarter, running away with a 53 point win in the end. Elliston battling on bravely but too many answers forward for the 'dogs. Big game by Ty Mc Kenna in the ruck and around the ground, plenty of it, Jake and Jared Sampson prollific ball winners wth disposal skills that sets them apart, Kane Sampson unpassable mainly from half back and Jesse Stringer another in and under match, using the ball so well under pressure. The Roosters well served by Matt Williams and Stave Paul, as they have been all year, Kyle Kiggins a speedy excitment machine, fast and skillful, Dale Bache a great pick up, poised in the contest and wins plenty of the ball, Ross Bascomb another superb captains game.
Centrals have a few injuries themselves and a break will suit them just fine. At their best will cause big headaches to the ladder leaders, need all troops on the deck. Elliston are providing valuable game time to youngsters which will bode well for the future, plenty of spirit at the club.
The Mortlock Shield and Norwood Cup will be held at Port Lincoln ths coming weekend. Good luck to all involved.
