Round 6 WABL Round Up
Our WABL teams have just completed Round 6 of the 2019 season and having watched many of our teams over the last few weeks it is great to see so many of our WABL players performing at a very high level with 3 of our Women’s teams, U12 Division 3, U16 Championship, U16 Division 3, sitting on the top of their ladders with unblemished records, and a fourth team, U14 Championship Women, also undefeated and sitting 3rd on percentage.
Congratulations to them all on a great start to the year proving our Female program is definitely on the up and competing at a high level.
As of Round 6, eight (8) Women’s teams and eight (8) Men’s teams are in play-off spots which is a great result out of 22 teams and shows our strategy of development over winning as a clubwide program is reaping the rewards we hoped for 2 years ago.
While Basketball is a team game we also have some individuals who are performing at a high level, Young Gun Chad Jarvis leading the U12 Boys in made 3’s, Aurelia Church 2nd in Match pts in U12 girls Div 3, in 14/3 boys
Kayde Mckeon leads the league in F/T’s as does Ella Summers who is having a great year in U16 Championship Women, also leading the league in total pts and made 2’s and in U16 boys Div 4 Jaemon Yam is second in F/T’s made.
Our 18 Championship Men have 3 Players high on the Stat ladder with Gabriel Chadinha 1st in Avg Game Pts, Sharp Shooter Ben Geel, leading the way from the 3pt line and Luca O’Brien 3rd from the charity stripe.
In 18 Women Div 2 Katie Cummins is tearing it up 1st in Pts from 2 and 2nd in Total Game Pts and Match Average, Young Wolfpack members working hard on their games and reaping the rewards on Sundays.
Most importantly every week I see our Players/Coaches/Managers wearing the Green with pride, looking great in their Green Uniforms, performing at the highest level and showing the correct level of sportsmanship and respect to their counterparts and being great Ambassadors for our Club and our shared vision of being the Destination of Choice for Basketball in WA.
Until the next update, keep playing hard, working on your game to get better every time you play, and most importantly have fun and enjoy playing the game we all love.
