The Hawk juggernaut continues, the third straight win over 200 points. Can any team stop them in 2019? West Coasters winning every quarter convincingly, fast play on style to the fore and the ‘dogs no answers. Familiar feel in the best, Jack Burton and Jess Kenny, new to club but you wouldn’t know it, they fit right in. Jake Mc Evoy, Dylan Kelsh and Joe Mc Innis, the whole side contributing right across the ground. Plenty of snouts in the goal trough also, Cody Colbung’s back in the firsts after some warm up weeks in the twos, five goals, reliable Braden Holmes and Mark Dolling also five, Cam Montgomerie back in with four and Jess Kenny chipping in with four.
Centrals outgunned overall, but well served by Jake Sampson, captains game and leading the way, evergreen Jared Sampson, Jesse Stringer in the middle and Corey Waters
Tigers move themselves up to second with a hard fought win at Bomberland. Districts boys out of the blocks quickly with 7.2 to 1.0 first quarter, Damon King O’Loughlin kicking 6.1 for the quarter and all but untouchable. The Bombers working their way back into the game thereafter, getting to within a couple of goals late in the last before the Tigers steadied to kick the last couple of goals. Enthralling contest between two well matched sides.
Damon’s six telling in the end, but well fed out of the middle by Broadie Chandler, perhaps his best game for the year. Zane Montgomerie everywhere, Charlie Williams continuing his stellar season, help in the speed stakes by Bradyn Hedley-King back at the club. Tom Lee great at half forward, Jed Beinke a huge contributor and Scott Feltus really lifting the side when it became hard and tough.
Bombers will regret a slower start, is this a match that got away? Ryan Watson absolutely everywhere, works so hard to get to every contest, Mitch Gum all class, and a couple of great goals out of the centre, Dan Swaffer prolific in defence, Locky Ross hard at it again, his tackles can not be broken, and Barney Watkinson another great game for the club. He is here on permit for now, but the Bombers will be very keen to keep him on board. Simon Webb still to go to man forward, and moved up the ground from time to time gathering possessions out of goal range.
The Magpies re stated a final four case with a sound win at Elliston. 78 points in the end, but running away with the game late, only 28 point margin at ¾ time. Coach Ryan Du Bois will be pleased to have his cattle returning to the oval. Dan Foster great before injury forcing him from the field, Sam Buckham home for the weekend, Izaac Boylan and Jonty Seal proving a huge presence forward, Jonty back from injury and straight back to his damaging best. Ricky Seal, Tyson Jackson and Josh Mitchell rounding out the better players.
Roosters will be happy with their effort, perhaps tiring late. Andrew Mc Leod worked his heart out, needing to play tall given the Roosters lack of height this year, productive all over the ground, Kyle Higgins an excellent game, quick off the mark and brave, Matt Williams and Ross Bascomb, veterans at a young age both and carrying huge loads every week, Scott Bascomb and Sam Cassanova rounding out the best.
The round also saw the commencement of the Under 13 competition, with good reports across the League. All matches were played in great spirit, and despite a narrower ground and 12 minute quarters, plenty of running needed by the whole side. Free scoring and open play were a feature.
