Preview of Breeze and Zephyr double-header on Sunday
Harbour Breeze and Harbour Zephyr are hosting a Women’s Basketball Championship (WBC) double-header on Sunday. The Breeze face Taranaki Thunder in a Division 1 clash while the Zephyr will take on Rotorua Lady Geysers in a Division 2 fixture – both games are at AUT Sports Centre, Akoranga Drive, Northcote.
The Zephyr will be first on court at midday with the Dream tipping-off at 2.30pm.
Sunday May 26 – Harbour Breeze v Taranaki Thunder, 2.30pm at AUT Sports Centre.
Breeze squad: Deena Franklin, Akiene-Tera Reed, Matangiroa Flavell, Yume Negishi, Tayla Dalton, Emme Shearer, Chelsea Terei, Penina Davidson, Keeley Tini, Ella Fotu, Noni Martin.
Keeley Tini, fresh from a successful freshman year at Hutchinson Community College, will make her first appearance of the season for Harbour Breeze against the Thunder on Sunday.
Tall Fern Penina Davidson, having missed the two games last weekend, is likely to be fit for the game on Sunday as the Breeze look for their fourth win of the campaign and strengthen their top four position.
Tayla Daltonleads the Breeze in steals (2.2spg) in addition to averaging 11.4 points per game whilst Deena Franklin and Matangiroa Flavell each average 9 points per game.

Zephyr squad – Raykesha Fiatau, Olivia Berry, Tiarna Clarke, Wuanyei Ah-Hing, Jordyn Maddix, Shanee Kiriau, Jess Moors, Tessa Talo-Tomokino, Hannah Wentworth, Mareta Davidson, Parehuia Delamere, Wuanyei Ah-Hing, Rashaan Smith.
Rashaan Smith will make her first appearance for the Zephyr that have two wins from four games in their debut WBC season. Smith will bolster the front court firepower alongside Mareta Davidson and Raykesha Fiatau.
Tiarna Clarke is the leading scorer for the Zephyr averaging 14.8 points per game and Jess Moors the leading rebounder with 6.8 boards per game.
Lady Geysers forward Aroha Haumaha poses as the biggest threat for the Lady Geysers averaging 13.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per outing.
