The Willetton Tigers MSBL have struggled to find their form this year with a new-look team.

Going forward, MSBL coach Steve Black says they have openly assessed their performances so far and are looking towards a more successful back-half to the season.

“I think there is no hiding that the first half has been disappointing for us. I think now we have certainly changed direction and have a new style based on some different personnel and what we have learned about ourselves so far,” Black said.

“Hopefully we can be more competitive, more aggressive and more successful.”

New US import Chris Galbreath will be a key element to the Tigers' success in the coming weeks.

Black is hopeful that he can provide a versatile role alongside Mo Barrow that will cause some strife for opponents.

“Chris gives us versatility with someone who can score from the perimeter, defend at a high level and also rebound… hopefully he and Mo as a combination will give teams problems to match up with,” Black said.

We saw a glimpse of the Tigers potential last week against the Perth Redbacks.

Despite going down in a narrow loss, there were plenty of positive signs including how the team fought back from being down 22 points at quarter time to being tied in the fourth quarter.

Overcoming the frustration of losing a winnable game, Black is proud of how his team fought instead of folding to pressure after a disappointing opening quarter.

“I was very proud of the effort, I thought we could have folded early but everyone came together and gave everything they had to overcome what was a huge hole,” Black said.

“It was very frustrating, but also a lot of our own doing, so we need to keep that in mind. We showed patches of great basketball, but also some very disappointing play.”

The Tigers will take on the Joondalup Wolves this Friday at Willetton Basketball Stadium. WSBL tip-off at 6:30pm followed by MSBL at 8:30pm.
