Mallee Football League Receives STARCLUB Recognition
Congratulations to the Mallee Football League on receiving STARCLUB Recognition. The highest level of governance in the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s STARCLUB program.
Over 2500 clubs/leagues/association are working through the STARCLUB program in SA and the Mallee Football League are the 160th organisation to reach the highest level of achievement - A RECOGNISED STARCLUB - showing that they are positive, welcoming, vibrant and safe for all.
What is STARCLUB? The STARCLUB - Club Development Program has been designed for use by sport and active recreation clubs of all sizes. The program will be valuable for your club whether you believe your club is already a STARCLUB or has some work to do. It is free and open to all sport and recreation organisations to participate in.
Information in the STARCLUB program is specific to current South Australian legislation and is updated regularly to reflect state and national best practice in club development.
The new ‘Sustainability’ section could significantly reduce your club running costs. While this section is not compulsory, we recommend you work through it to find better ways to manage your club’s water and energy bills, ground maintenance and finances.
SANFL encourages all clubs and leagues to undertake the STARCLUB assessment tool.

Security Message | Copper Thieves Targeting Sporting Clubs
Over the past month, a number of community sporting clubs and venues have been the target of thieves stripping copper wiring from light towers. Not only does this result in a large financial cost to repair the light towers, it also deprives South Australian's the opportunity to take part in their chosen sport in non-daylight hours resulting in a number of clubs unable to conduct weekly training sessions.
Please remain vigilant and ensure your security procedures are up to date. These security measures can include the use of CCTV surveillance, provide appropriate lighting where possible, monitor site activity and build upon the relationships forged with local community and neighbours. If you witness any suspicious behaviour at your local sporting facility please contact South Australia Police on 131 444 and the venue.
