Two goals from Gomo Dukuly ensured Perth Glory enjoyed another day out in the annual Regional Cup as they put five past Sorrento in Busselton.

Saturday’s 5-2 result at Barnard Park was not as one-sided as the 6-1 drubbing dished out in Kalgoorlie in 2018 but in the end it was convincing enough for Richard Garcia’s side.

Gabriel Popovic put Glory’s noses in front and although Cameron Teece levelled for the Gulls, Perth were ahead again before half time thanks to Henry Hore’s penalty.

Teece had the game in the balance once more with his second goal 20 minutes from time. But from that point Glory took charge, as Dukuly (2) and Daniel Stynes wrapped up the points in front of a healthy crowd of over 700.

There were also seven goals at ECU Football Stadium as a hat-trick from Tommy Amphlett delivered a first win of the season for ECU Joondalup after they came out on top 4-3 against Rockingham City.

Amphlett’s treble included a stoppage-time winner, which was tough on Rockingham who had fought back from a 3-1 half-time deficit.

But City had their chances too, especially when two-goal James Harmer failed to complete a hat-trick of his own by having his penalty saved by Jacks keeper Jonny Perkins with the score at 3-3.

ECU remain second bottom but they now have a three-point buffer over Stirling Lions, who suffered a fifth loss in seven games when going down 5-1 at Cockburn City.

Daniel Robinson led the way for the Cockerels with a brace as the home side ended a six-game winless run in style.

At the top Perth SC hold a four-point advantage over Glory, with Floreat Athena in third.

Perth inflicted a third loss of the season on Bayswater by winning 2-1 at Frank Drago Reserve through goals from Gustavo Catarcione and Michael Domfeh.

Floreat had little trouble in overcoming Balcatta 2-0 at Grindleford Reserve, although home coach Goran Stajic will probably want to know why his defence went AWOL for Chris Saldaris’ opener less than a minute into the second half.

In the day’s other match Inglewood raced into a 4-0 half-time lead against Armadale, who were unable to deal with the threat of Chok Dau and Anthony Bafobusha.

But coach John O’Reilly’s half-time talk must have worked a treat as the hosts scored three times after the interval only for United to hang on for the win.
