Perth’s Execution Kills off Glory

Perth’s Execution Kills off Glory

Report by Tristan Wheeler

Execution of basic skills, tactics and physical strength were the difference between Perth Glory and Perth SC at E & D Litis stadium.

Glory conceded two goals in the first half in the same fashion, allowing SC to hit them on the counter and to play Gustavo Catarcione and Michael Domfeh clean through on goal in the 15th and 29th minute respectively.

Despite the score at halftime, Glory had dominated possession during the first half.

The second half was a more even affair in terms of possesion, but the difference in score simply came down to Perth taking their chances better, and a slight piece of fortune, with Glory goalkeeper Jackson Lee botching a clearance and slicing the ball into the top corner of his own net in the 60th minute.

In a rare bright moment for the Glory, they were awarded a penalty in the 63rd minute, and Daniel Stynes stepped up to dispact it sweetly down the middle of the goal, avoiding a diving Dejan Aleksic.

Their joy was shortlived, with SC’s infuential winger Nicolo Sabatini restoring a three goal lead for the away side in the 65th, capping an excellent game for the SC stalwart.
