GOTAFE Goulburn Valley League’s senior football coach Brad Campbell, has released his initial squad of thirty-seven players to take on the Western Region Football League in this year’s Worksafe Community Championships. The game is taking place on Saturday the 18th of May at Werribee’s Avalon Oval.
Campbell and his team of assistants, have been busy over the last few weeks, watching practice matches and the first two rounds of the GOTAFE GVL season as well as holding several meetings to select the initial squad.
Campbell has been able to enlist the support of some very experienced GOTAFE GVL people as his assistant coaches this year.
“I am very pleased to announce that Paul Newman, Paul Kirby and Tim Looby have joined the coaching panel this year to join assistant coaches from recent campaigns in Brendan Vanderdonk and Sam Little”, mentioned Campbell.
“Paul Newman, Paul Kirby and Tim Looby are all very experienced interleague players in the past for the League and it is a huge boost having GVL football people of this calibre involved this year. Brendan and Sam have also been heavily involved for several years now and are both very passionate about interleague football”, added Campbell.
“It’s also pleasing that at this stage of the selection process, we have all twelve clubs represented in the initial squad, and fifteen players who played last year are included”, said Campbell.
GOTAFE GVL Chairman David Roff is looking forward to continued success in the Worksafe Community Championships.
“The Board fully supports Brad and his team as we aim to continue our rise up the State rankings after a terrific win against Ballarat last year. It's great to see that all Clubs are represented, and we look forward to the squad being refined in the coming weeks”, mentioned Roff.
