Central Eyre will be commemorating 100 years since the formation of Kyancutta FC (1918) in the then Central Eyre Peninsula Football Association. The first year of competition was 1919.
Kyancutta was an inaugural member of the new CEPFA in 1919, playing in black and white colours. The club moved to Middle Areas Football Association in 1930, returning to CEPFA in 1945. In 1946 and 1947 Kyancutta moved to Rudall Centre Football Association, returning to the newly named Le Hunte Football Legaue (formerly CEPFA) in 1948 and changing their colours to the Black and Gold Tigers. There the club remained as a force unitil their last year as Kyancutta in 1986. The merger of Kyancutta and Warramboo Football Clubs occured after the 1986 season, forming the current Central Eyre and playing in the final year of Le Hunte Football League in 1987.
Central Eyre went on to win their first flag in 1988, the first year of Mid West Football League.
Kyancutta FC has a proud history, and a call is out to everyone who has had association with the club or against the club to join in. The club is seeking memorabillia and news items from the past for display.
Central Eyre will be wearing commemorative guernseys for the match against Wirrulla on the 22 June 2019, and these will be auctioned after the game.
This will be a great weekend, a chance to catch up, swap stories and reminisce. RSVPs are sought for catering purposes, please see poster for details.
