Sandringham sharpshooter Nicholas Sautner overcame injury and suspension to win his eighth Frosty Miller Medal.
A five-time Premiership player with Sandringham and a three-time Victorian representative, Sautner kicked 74 goals from 16 matches.
He bettered his mark of 59 goals from 17 home and away season matches last season.
Sautner in 2008 kicked seven goals on four occasions and had a season average of five goals a game.
Sautner climbed to seventh on the all-time VFL goal kicking list with 760 goals, surpassing greats Peter Neville, Joe Radojevic and Garry Hammond.
Season highlights for Sautner included breaking the games record at Sandringham and a bag of 10 goals against Tasmania.
At the end of the 2008 home and away season Sautner’s career statistics stand at 226 games and 760 goals at an average of 3.4 goals per game.
Schwab paid tribute to Sautner’s record eighth VFL goal kicking title.
"This is a great effort from a champion VFL player and a wonderful achievement," Schwab said.
