LATROBE VALLEY SOCCER LEAGUE

Gippsland Referees Branch

A Culture Change Required

The Latrobe Valley Soccer League as well as Football Victoria has been facing a marked increase of Abuse and Dissent towards Referees and the Player Culture and Attitude is not at a standard, we should all be proud of.

With confidence as a community we can state that we no longer tolerate any type of abuse in the workplace, home or schools where our children attend.

So We Ask the Question… Why is it ok to Tolerate any Type of Abuse out on the Soccer Field or from the sidelines during a Match?

With Football Victoria statistics indicating that approximately 40% of Referees cease after their 1st Year due to Abuse and Dissent something needs to be done NOW.

This year, the Gippsland Referees Branch in conjunction with Football Victoria will be taking a Zero Tolerance Approach towards Abuse and Dissent and we need the support of the LVSL Board, Club Committees, Club Delegates, Club Members, Coaches, Players, Team Managers, Club Marshals, Volunteers and Supporters.

The LVSL will fully support Match Referees or Assistant Referees (AR’s) who may at times call on any of the above Match Day Participants to be Proactive in Assisting the Referee in dealing with any Club Official, Coach, Club Associate or other outside agent who participates in any kind of Abuse or Dissent towards a Referee or Assistant Referee.

By being Proactive and taking Action, support from each Club can assist the Latrobe Valley Soccer League and Football Victoria return the culture of LVSL Soccer to a level that we can all be proud to be a part of.

You can all make a difference!
