Ex-Northern Knight Trent Cotchin has finished third in the voting for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.
Cotchin finished on 21 votes, behind winner Rhys Palmer on 44 and runner-up Cyril Rioli on 37.
Cotchin's former Northern team mate Matthew Kreuzer finished fourth on 11 votes.
Kreuzer (Carlton, no.1) and Cotchin (Richmond, no.2) were taken wth the first two selections at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft after standout junior careers at the Northern Knights.
They guided the Knights into a TAC Cup preliminary final last year before Cotchin succumbed to injury in the third term.
It resulted in a delayed pre-season at Richmond but once fit, he showed the poise and promise he displayed at TAC Cup level.
He played three matches for the Coburg Tigers before being selected for his AFL debut in round eight against Geelong. Cotchin tallied 15 games and nine goals.
Kreuzer, meanwhile, also had a standout first season as a ruckman and key forward at Carlton. He played in 20 games and booted 13 goals.
