The Koonibba Football Club had formed in 1906 and played social/ friendly matches in this way regularly before being part of the Murat Bay Football League.
Football in the Streaky Bay area also formed in 1906, and by 1927 the Central Flinders Football Association was in competition (from 1923). The Streaky Bay Areas team was an invitation team from players available from Streaky Bay area.
