NEWS: Long serving Northern Hub MiniRoos CoOrdinator Steve Siketa finishes up after 12 years service
LONG serving Northern Hub MiniRoos CoOrdinator Steve Siketa this week resigned from his role after more than 12 years at the helm of one of the fastest growing junior football zones in Victoria.
Siketa, who is a long time school teacher at Kardinia College during the day, held the voluntary position of Hub Co-Ordinator and Fixtures Manager since the inception of the MiniRoos Northern Hub in 2007 and on Monday announced his intentions to hang up his managerial boots in an official email to all northern club representatives.
“I am writing to let you know that I am stepping down as the co-ordinator of the Northern Hub and as the soccer convenor for Kardinia International College,” Siketa said in his letter.
“I would like to thank you all for the support you have given me and for all the work that you have done to make our Hub a real powerhouse in the development of junior soccer in our region,” he added.
Following a short but well deserved holiday overseas to Europe, the man who has been affectionately dubbed the ‘Chevape King of Geelong’ as a result of his family’s ownership of the iconic Bell Park smallgoods business Siketa Meats will return to Geelong in late October.
He will then meet up with FFV Club Ambassadors for the Geelong region, Foddy Kyprian and Tonci Prusac, and FFV Competitions’ Co-Ordinator for the Western region, Brad Atholwood, with the view of formulating a succession plan for next season.
Siketa had some nice parting words for all the club representatives and their respective clubs in the northern zone.
“I am sure I will bump into many of you on the local soccer scene and I wish you all the best for the upcoming off season. Get a good rest as I am sure next season will be bigger than ever!” concluded Steve Siketa in his letter.
