THE all important fourth place in the Top Four of the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 competition was secured by last season’s minor premiers Drysdale SC, but only on goal difference and following a bit of luck which saw Bell Park unable to overcome Deakin Ducks.

The Drysdale team secured a spot in the Top Four despite being on the wrong end of a 6-1 thumping at home by the ever improving Kardinia College courtesy of its superior goal difference over Bell Park.

Four goals from Stephanie Cameron and a goal from Holly Ryan helped the young Kardinia side to victory over the home side. The sixth goal for Kardinia was credited as an own goal.

Lauren Salaviejus scored Drysdale’s lone goal in the first half which in the end proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

Drysdale ends the season in fourth position on the table with a total of 19 points, while Kardinia finishes the season in 6th position with a total of 16 points.

Meanwhile, Deakin Ducks denied Bell Park any chance of a Top Four finish as they defeated the home side 8-0 at the Bell Park Sports Club on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the goal scorers of the Deakin side were not submitted to the Sports TG site.

As mentioned previously, Bell Park finishes just outside the Top Four on goal difference while Deakin ends the 2018 season in second place on the table with 30 points.

Over at Myers Reserve, the already crowned League Champions Geelong Rangers defeated bottom of the table side Surf Coast 10-2.

Singles from Olivia La Spada, Zoe Tizard, Lara Heric, Emanuella Fierro, Bridie Celin as well as braces from Ally van Dalen and Brittany Elsen ensured the Rangers kept their winning mentality strong going into the Finals’ Series.

Lara Heric, a former Galaxy United WNPL youth team player, scored an incredible 26 goals for the Rangers in their inaugural season in the elite local Women’s division.

Rangers finished the regular season with 41 points. Over the course of the season they have scored 97 goals and conceded just 18.

Surf Coast finish the season bottom of the table with a total of just five points.
