Mid-West Football Presidents Preliminary Final Welcome
A big welcome to all players, supporters, life members and sponsors to Elliston for our 2018 Preliminary Final.
Thank-you to Elliston for hosting our Prelim Finals. Elliston always put on a good show and have some of the most passionate supporters in the League, and for good reason, with their very competitive footy teams. Also, don’t forget the ‘Fish Sandwich’, that only Elliston can do – it’s always a good feed.
Last Monday night, the League had a meeting with Clubs about improving the viability and competitiveness of our Colts and B Grade competitions. The future of our League and Clubs largely depends on our kids developing through Colts and continuing onto B grade and A Grade. The League and our Clubs need to keep working to create an environment and competition that our kids want to play in so that they see football as enjoyable and of benefit to them and our local communities.
At the meeting, all clubs were positive and honest and provided many constructive ideas, strategies and solutions to help keep our Colts and B Grade competitions going. Most of the suggestions were simple, not requiring major changes and could go a long way towards helping improve our junior and senior football. These suggestions are being sent to Clubs for them to discuss with their whole football community. Each club will come up with proposals that will work for them and other clubs in the League. All clubs will come back prior to the Mid-West Football League AGM on the 15th October, enabling the League to have something ready for the start of 2019.
The positive and enthusiastic response from the meeting, gave the Clubs and the League much hope for our football future.
Good luck to all football and netball teams competing, have a great day at Elliston and safe travels home.
Cheers
Matt Cook
