NEWS: 40 new referees completed Level 4 Refs’ Course last Saturday at Leisuretime Sports Precinct!
AN INCREDIBLE total of 40 potential new match officials completed a Level 4 Referees’ Course, which was held at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct last Saturday. The course proved to be that popular that an additional instructor was needed to be booked.
This training program, is aimed at match officials officiating in junior and youth matches, consisted of theory modules, practical sessions and practical mentoring in matches as a referee and assistant referee.
Geelong’s newest referees will be provided with a nationally accredited Level 4 Referee’s certificate and will now be permitted to officially referee both Futsal Geelong and Geelong Social Sevens’ matches, as well as all FFV administered matches in the wider Geelong region.
James Ervacinovic was one of the course participants who found it both interesting and valuable.
“The course was a great take on executing the laws of football, as well as professional conduct as a referee,” he said.
To undertake the training program, the participants must have been at least 13 years of age and have successfully passed the online ‘Laws of the Game’ module within the past two years. The qualification is valid for a period of up to 4 years.
For those that missed out this time, another Level 4 Referees’ Course for the region is will be held on Saturday October 13 at the Leisuretime Sports Precinct.
