Letran College guns for a share of the lead!

Letran College guns for a share of the lead with Jose Rizal University when it tackles the streaking San Sebastian College in the 84th NCAA senior’s basketball tournament at the Astrodome in Pasay City.

The second-running Knights, sporting a 7-2 mark and half-a-game behind the 8-2 Heavy Bombers, will face the Stags (6-4) at 4 p.m.

Fifth in the standings with a 5-4 card, Mapua, on the other hand, hopes to keep within striking distance of the top four teams as it battles lowly College of Saint Benilde (5-4) in the first game at 2 p.m.

Letran currently enjoys a half-game lead of defending champion San Beda College, which is running third with a 7-3 card in the heated race for the 'twice-to-beat' advantage in the Final Four.

Expect the Intramuros-based team to bounce back from a 72-76 setback against JRU last Friday

However, the Knights are against the Stags, the second hottest squad in the league with a five-game winning run.

San Sebastian though is coming off a week-long break after a rousing 68-36 win over University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

“We hope we could sustain this streak as we face three tough teams in our last four elimination round games,” said Stags mentor Jorge Gallent, the five-time champion coach of Harbour Centre in the PBL

An inspired Cardinals squad is fresh from a stunning 53-48 win over the Red Lions, which boosted their chances in making it to the semifinal round.
