NEWS: 2019 Country Champs to be held in Albury/Wodonga, parents urged to book accommodation now!
NEXT year’s Victorian Country Leagues’ Football Association (CLFA) Junior Championships will be hosted by the Albury Wodonga Football Association after the original hosting city Ballarat had issues with available accommodation due to other major events in that city over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
According to CLFA president Neville Keen, Simon Randall from the AWFA has spoken with the local council and they are fully supportive of next year’s Victorian Junior Country Championships being held in Albury/Wodonga, as opposed to 2021 when they were due to be staged in the border town.
GOFC Coaching’s Pete Bradley, who co manages the Geelong Rep teams, advises all Geelong families with an interest in the tournament to consider making accommodation arrangements sooner rather than later as this year the event will grow to include over 1400 kids due to the introduction of the Girls U11's
“We must stress, though, that there are no guarantees of any positions (in the rep squads), so it is recommended that people only book accommodation with a free cancellation option,” he said.
Trials for the Rep teams will commence in February and registration for these free trials can be done online by going to https://form.jotform.co/82128580024855
It will be the Geelong region’s turn to host the Victorian Junior Country Championships in 2020.
