Rockets win, QABL Men's Award Winners announced

The Rockhampton Rockets have delivered exactly what their home crowd has demanded this weekend- a win!  The team has been crowned the 2008 QABL Champions after winning 4 of 4 quarters in the Grand Final to pick the Townsville Heat apart and register a 97-80 victory.  The game was neck and neck until the middle of the second quarter, at which time the Rocket playmakers went to work seeing the team pull away from their northern rival.  Martin, Thompson and Weigh were the offensive strength of the home team, while imports McDade and Dumbliauskas went to work in defence.  Thompson was a stand-out for Rocky hitting 6 of 8 three-pointers, collecting 30pts, 8rbs, 3asts.  The year is still far from over for the Rockets, as they travel to NSW next weekend to face the Sutherland Sharks in a National Quarter Final.
