Football rounds the final bend this week, representative season all but over, just the State Under 15 and Under 17 champs left, and the finals light at the end of the tunnel burning brightly. This week Mid West is playing MAC Road Safety Round, recognising safety on our roads, particularly important in our area given the distances that we travel!
Central Eyre v Wirrulla at Kyancutta
The ‘dogs at home, looking to consolidate their finals spot, and the Bombers having lost their second spot to the Roosters last match, looking for a quick bounce back. Round one Centrals won by 75 points, round six Wirrulla won by 50 points. Sides are changed, Wirrulla haven’t been able to replace gun mid Ryan Watson, and likewise Centrals miss big Tasman Fitzgerald. College inclusions for both sides this week
Kyancutta is never a happy hunting ground for any visiting sides, Centrals have made themselves a fortress there, loving the wide spaces and open forward lines. Tyler Chapman and Wade O Brien renew their partnership of years gone by at the sharp end for the ‘dogs, Jesse Stringer coming off a superb State Country Championship, team of Carnival/ State selection well deserved, he is in the midst of a wonderful year. Up and coming champions Brodi Grocke, Mckenzie Heath, Joe O Brien Saxon O Brien will provide run and carry, helping the efficient ‘dog mid field. Jared Sampson has endured an injury interrupted season, but he is back and the side plays so much better when he sets up those around him.
The Bombers will miss Darryl Dudley this week, but have a host of inclusions which will see them better than their most recent trip to the beach. Big Will Mayhew back in action, Mitch Gum another who excelled at the State Championships both keys in this match. Mac Best back home briefly this week, played a fortnight ago at Elliston and impressed big time on his wing. Kahil Evans another who stood up last match, young and skilful. Yanni Kozminski important with his aerial strength, making a great target. Much will be asked of Rowan Chester for the Bombers to take this out. Taylor Schmucker is having a break out season, high performer every week.
Two well matched sides who could well face off at finals time, so a good showing needed here. The Dogs at home always hard to toss and a couple of important missing links at Bomberland doesn’t assist their cause. Bombers very capable however!
Centrals 10 -20
