A big weekend of celebration and reiniscing at the Wirrulla Centenary event on 23 June 2018.
The Wirrulla Team of The Century was announced following the A Grade football which is shown here.
Many later years players will be well known to Mid West people, including Mail Medalists, representative players and genuine out and out stars. An awesome prospect to contemplate playing against this side! Captain is Michael Baldock, who's son Tyler leads the ruck division, both have earned Mail Medals.
A great crowd in attendance against the old foes West Coast Hawks. Players wore specially designed Heritage guernseys, representing aspects of most guernseys worn over the 100 years.
Wirrulla FC remains as a single entity club despite so much change happening around them, other clubs in their area have merged into the current day Wirrulla FC. (see the chart attached here).
Mitchell Gum was awarded best player for the game and Heritage Medal. The B Grade enjoye a big win, while the A Grade couldnt quite get over the line against a determined Hawks. The match was close all the way however and not decided until late. A successful auction of guernseys took place in the club afterwards, with band Chasin Aces playing until late.
Congratulations to the club and organisers of this event, celebrations will continue after the Grand Final, hosted at Wirrulla this year. The memorabillia and history remains on display at the club and is well worth catching for visiting clubs.
