ONLY two games will be played this weekend in the Geelong Region Women’s Division 1 competition over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend with second placed Barwon hosting a Bell Park side on the rebound at Grovedale Reserve on Monday night at 7pm.

Barwon is currently just two points behind league leaders Geelong Rangers and a win could see them go top of the table. However, Rangers will have a game in hand.
Bell Park, meanwhile, has struggled in recent weeks and has fallen to 5th position on the table. This comes on the back of a 12-0 loss to Geelong Rangers last round, which Bell Park will be looking to bounce back from.
The only other game of the round will be held on Saturday at 2pm as Kardinia College travels to Torquay to take on Surf Coast at Banyul Warri Reserve.
Both sides have had a tough start to the season. Surf Coast is in a slightly better position than the visitors, however, and are only two points behind 5th placed Bell Park. A win could see them move up to 5th and overtake Bell Park, although Bell Park would have the Monday night game in hand.
Despite fighting gallantly to the end in many of their games so far, the young Kardinia team is yet to gain any competition points and have -32 goal difference.
A win would prove very important for the visitors and would be a good confidence booster for the team currently occupying the bottom spot.
