Mitcham Yellow V Vermont
Summary: In foggy conditions the team started well with some excellent marking across the back line and attacking play set up through Zack Stansfield, Andy Eiroi, Ryley Byrnes and Tate Porter. Several congested packs were broken by the run from Preston, Jono, Seth and Aston who created space and goal opportunities. Excellent defence was shown by Jarrod, Jake, Lachie and big Max, who improved as the game went on. Our youngest player, Oscar Laveelle, again showed great endeavour and saved goals on the line. We welcome another Oscar to the team, who fitted in well. All up, another rimproved game with several players playing their best game including Tate, Cooper, Max and Oscar L.
Best Players: Tate Porter, Zack Stansfield, Andy Eiro, Riley Byrnes, Preston Sleap, Cooper Lavelle, Jono Ewison

Summary: 4 degrees and a blanket of fog greeted us and stayed for the whole
Game versus a well drilled Lysterfield.
Our focus was on pressure, hassle and effort with Dylan (medal winner) leading the way.
Strong making again from Jack, with another great running goal by Zac M were both highlights.
Oscar was doing his best Joe Danaher impression getting his hands on and shooting at goals.
Iggy as captain was carving them up while Jake was breaking the lines with his run and carry.
Camden from the under 8’s came into our line up and showed he was up to the task with some big kicking and strong marking. Great work, go tigers

Teams: The Basin v Mitcham
Summary: Today the Mitcham U9 Yellow team had a hard fought game against a very good side from The Basin. The conditions were cold and foggy to start with. The ball was slippery however our boys persisted and adapted to the conditions.
Our boys played courageously and early on Billy Love and Haydn Maaskant took a couple of big hits but showed the true Tiger spirit by coming back on the ground quickly for the team after their respective knocks. The boys continue to improve each week however we need to be switched on from the start. Riley Bean had a fantastic game and kicked a couple of nice goals as well. There was a fantastic passage of play from Cooper Doherty and Billy Love who cleared the ball from the back line to the wing in a 3 on two contest and they shared the ball magnificently.
A big thank you to Chloe Linnett from our u8's who filled in on a very cold frosty morning down at The Basin. A special mention to Riley Bean and Cooper Doherty for being awarded the medals and to Chloe Linnett and Billy Love for winning the Two Brothers awards.
Best Players: Riley Bean, Cooper Doherty, Billy Love, Haydn Maaskant, Blake Calder
Goals: Riley Bean 2, Billy Love 1

Teams: Kilsyth V Mitcham
Summary: Today Mitcham Black played the Bombers out at Pinks Reserve where the boys rallied together to get an awesome win in thick fog and cold conditions. It was the first time the boys were switched on from the start and gave it their all right to the end. Lewis rose to the occasion showing the potential we have been waiting for. Joel played his best game yet - motivated with a bribe of McDonalds from his dad, and winning the medal for the round. Every single player from the biggest to the smallest put in that extra effort that enabled their win. Well deserved. Well done boys!
Best Players: Joel, Lewis

Teams: Mitcham V Montrose
Summary Going in to yesterday's game we knew we were coming up against some pretty good opponents as they really pushed us in the lightning premiership, but we were lucky enough to get over the line, so we thought they would come looking for some scoreboard revenge. That's exactly what we got, a team that applied some great pressure to our ball carriers with fierce tackling and then able to hit the scoreboard with a few too many easy goals. The encouraging thing, was that the boys did not give up and played the game right out to the end. With a weekend off, let’s all get a bit of recovery and relaxation in, ready for our next clash against Norwood in a couple weeks’ time. Special thank you to Cooper Farr for coming across from the Mitcham Black team.
Best Players: Encouragement Medal – Jake McConnell Two Brother Café Award – Daniel Grace McDonalds Award – Henry Ridgeway and Charlie Cruse
Goal Kickers: Charlie Wilson 1, James Watt 1.
Mitcham under 10 Girls
Teams: Mitcham V Yarra Glen
Summary: The girls braved a crisp and foggy morning in Yarra Glen for the 2nd time this season. Captained by Maddisyn and Matilda, the girls ran and played hard all morning, and it was great to see so many of them bouncing or touching the ball to the ground like we have been practicing at training! Seven of our girls kicked goals this week, with Matilda and Zahli kicking their first goals! Great teamwork, passing and encouragement was seen throughout the match by all players, and the girls showed great spirit when taking their turns to play a quarter for the other team! Congratulations to Isla (Coach's medal), Maddisyn (Hair voucher), Zahli (Two Brothers voucher) and Perri (opposition coach's award) who were recognised for their efforts today. With Jess unavailable to coach this week due to Vic Metro commitments, Ollie and Aldo stepped up to the Coaching role, while Kris kept warm in the Runner role. We really appreciate the great group of parents and brothers who are willing and able to step in to fill roles when we need! We look forward to a 2 week break with Queen's Birthday and a bye, and we are sure the girls will come out firing for the rest of the season!
Best Players: Maeve G, Perri G, Zara L, Felicity V, Zahli M, Ashley D

Mitcham 1.6-12 V South Croydon 7.7-49
Summary: If a foggy Sunday morning and an opponent that had beaten us easily just two weeks prior wasn’t enough of a challenge – we had 6 of our 19 available players pull out on Sunday morning. The call went out across the Tiger Army and we fortunately were able to start the game with 16 players and finish with a luxurious 20. Huge thanks to our under 9 champions – Zac, Thomas and Jack who competed really well for us, and then to Ryan, Dan, Jett and Rishi who came to play after their earlier under 10 games. It was a true Tiger team effort!
Being undermanned early we unfortunately were blown away in the first quarter with South Croydon kicking 4 goals. From there we challenged the boys to start fresh and win the next three quarters. The response was absolutely terrific and after quarter time we matched them in intensity and effort to see the score 3.4 to 1.6 for the three last quarters.
Best Players: Tong Atak, Jaylen Allen, Daniel Grace, Steven Ajani, Caden Sleap, Inti Nieto
Goals: Rishi Indugula

East Ringwood 6.3-39 V Mitcham 2.2-14
Summary: In chilly and foggy conditions we took on East Ringwood. We really focused on effort in the lead up to the game and we burst out of the blocks with 2 first quarter goals. We dropped away again in the second and third quarters and it proved costly as East Ringwood ran the ball well and took some nice marks close to goal. We rallied in the last, however we couldn't impact the scoreboard again. We limp to the break with work to do for the rest of the season.
Best Players: Mason Porter, Gabriel Gonzalez, Henry Thomson, LeBron Gencarelli, Ty Crupi, Will Serong
Goals: Matthew Burkitt, Daniel Chin

Mitcham Tigers 0.0-0 V Ferntree Gully 10.9-69
Summary: On the weekend the girls came up against an undefeated Ferntree Gully who are the top side in our comp. FTG got off to a fast start with a couple of goals in the first 2 minutes, and were 4 up by qtr time. Our girls battled hard in the 2nd but FTG had 7 goals at half time. Although the game was one sided on the scoreboard our girls really put up a great fight for the whole day but especially in the second half. We almost kept them scoreless in the third but for them to get a late goal, and they got a couple of lucky ones in the last. Our girls played tough and their run and chase to tackle the opposition was great. All the girls stood up, Lauren fought her way through the game the whole day and showed great leadership, Zara laid the best tackle of the day, even took a while for the girl to get up, Jess stayed solid in the backline with her tackling and chase for the footy, Charlotte has become a great centre half back and is extremely reliable as well as one of our toughest players. Taya again played a great game, just getting better each week, and the Anderson girls just kept at it all day. The girls could have easily let them run over the top of them, but to their credit they played the game out and showed a never say die attitude, we were extremely happy with their efforts, it was a tough day out there, leaving us scoreless, but we are still seeing improvement every week, and if the girls bring that type of effort each week we will have plenty of success through the season, and that’s all we can ask for, bad luck girls on the result, but well done on the 2nd half fight back and the effort all day!
Best Players: Lauren, Taya, Charlotte, Hayley, Vanessa

Mitcham V Vermont
Summary:Heavy fog greeted the boys at the start of play today. The top of the table clash 1 vs 2 didn't disappoint. Both teams played hard and fair at the contest. Early on we had our opportunities to gain the upper hand but we seemed overwhelmed with Vermont's pressure. Our mids lifted and won more contested ball but we just couldn't capitalise on the score board. 3pts between the teams in the last term before Vermont kicked 2 cheeky goals against the run of play. The game unfortunately was stopped 4 minutes before the end as courageous Danny Fogarty was taken off the ground on a stretcher after a clash of heads (Danny is doing fine but understandably a little sore). Thanks again to Debra F and the Vermont trainer for all of their assistance with Dan's incident. Lots of hard work ahead for the team before the next round. Looking forward to some very handy players coming back in.
Best Players: Luke M, Dan F, Hudson G, Hamish G, Noah S, Luke F, Ryan M

Mitcham under 14 Girls
Teams: Knox 1.0-6 V Mitcham 9.17-71
Summary: Round 8 on the road playing Knox, after a great night at training Thursday night, l was waiting for the girls to put four Quarters together but once again we started slow spraying the goals. Knox playing with a lot of confidence, taking it right up to us. Quarter time Knox 1-0-6 to Mitcham 0-7-7. After quarter time the Mitcham ladies realised let’s run, talk it up and play our game of run and carry, but most importantly help out your mates. A number of players are now playing in more positions and doing well, which is very pleasing. A Big welcome back to Liv Skerry, off the plane and into the game well done. (This effort shows class and why you are a Co-captain)
Best Players: Team effort
Special mention to Janelle McCluskey, well spotted, and a big thanks from the team
Goals: Carroll 3 ,O.skerry, K .Alizzi M.Browne, A.Lees ,G. Simpson, P. Sutherland 1 each

Teams: Ferntree Gully Vs Mitcham
Summary: This week we travelled to Ferntree Gully for our Round 8 game. The first quarter saw us once again come out of the blocks slowly. Due to good efforts from Luke, Mac and Josh down back we only found ourselves down by a goal at quarter time. The second quarter was much the same as the first and we were down by three goals at halftime. With an increase in effort and using our footy smarts a bit more, we were able to get back in the game. Jack and Tonnam worked hard in the midfield. Dan N. and Denzel were pivotal links on the wings. JP and Mackay provided good targets up forward and Joel was at the drop of the footy and got himself a couple of goals. Trailing by only 5 points at three quarter time, we did well to get back into the contest but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as the Eagles goaled with 30 seconds left and ended up winning by 4 points. We didn’t come away with a win but there were a lot of positives to come out of the game and hopefully we can build on those as we head into the second half of the season.
Goals: Joel 3, Jasper 2, JP 2, Austin, Mason
Mitcham under 15
Mitcham V Scoresby / Lysterfield
Summary: A real arm-wrestle with each quarter time break lead being shared between both teams by less than 1 goal all day. The U15 continue to put on a standard of football that is extremely entertaining. The discipline and execution of training has given results which the team can see. Today may have been a close loss on the scoreboard but we know this is a quality team which any opposition needs to bring its 'A' game to defeat. The long weekend bye will be a welcome relief for many sore bodies who need the time to recover.
Best Players: Wil Drake, Declan Magee
Goals: Dom (3), Declan (1), Mitch (1), Hendo (1), Luke (1)

East Ringwood V Mitcham
Summary The Under 16 girls played East Ringwood yesterday at Walker Park at the later timeslot of 2:45pm. The girls had trained week during the week and were looking forward to getting a win on the board. Unfortunately they didn’t come to play in the first half of the game but to their credit played a better second half of football. They are looking forward to getting on the winners board after the long weekend. Our awards went to Evie for her efforts in playing in the ruck for 3 quarters unchanged and to Hayley for her fantastic runs to take on the opposition
Best Players: Geogia H, Riley, Maddy and Finn
