The Rangers continued their seven game winning streak, after they easily took all three competition points against Corio, which has performed incredibly well in their first year in the top flight after earning promotion from Division 2 last year.
Miles Slater contributed one goal for the visitors while livewire attacker Darren McCallum scored a double to bring his tally for the season to 11goals.
Rangers are yet to drop any points seven rounds into the season and remain in top spot with 21 points and a 34-goal difference.
Corio, meanwhile, is on 10 points behind the in-form Rangers with 11 points and currently occupies 4th spot on the table.
At Shell Road Reserve in Ocean Grove, Surfside Waves hosted Deakin Ducks in a game which decided who would finish the round in second spot.
Surfside was the team that prevailed after eventually defeating the Ducks 4-2. John Black, Adrian Vodopic and Matthew Sheen all helped their team to success, with Sheen scoring a double.
The goalscorers for Deakin were not submitted by the club.
Surfside now has a narrow three point advantage over the Ducks and sit 2nd on the table with 15 points, still six points behind league leaders Rangers. The Ducks have moved to 3rd on the table and have 12 points.
Lara United returned to winning ways after defeating Barwon 2-1 at the Lara Recreation Reserve on Sunday.
It was just what the home side needed, coming away with the much needed three points in a close game, after they had gone three consecutive weeks without a victory.
Joel Matuch and Nicholas Fairchild scored the goals that secured the three points for the hosts, while Cooper McCormack scored Barwon’s only goal of the game.
The result leaves Lara in 8th position on the table with 9 points. Barwon are now only one point ahead of United with 10 points and are currently 6th on the current standings.
Breakwater Eagles were defeated 1-4 at the White Eagle Club in Breakwater at the hands of Surf Coast, which has now found itself running into some good form after a sluggish start to the season.
David Jeynes scored Breakwater’s only goal for the afternoon. The goalscorers for Surf Coast, however, were not submitted by the Torquay club.
The Coasters have now strung three consecutive wins together and are now in 7th spot with 9 points, a much better position than they were in three weeks ago when they had no points. Breakwater are still bottom of the table with -13 goal difference.
Drysdale was set to host Barwon Heads at its Drysdale Sporting Precinct, however the visitors were unfortunately forced to forfeit the game. As a result, Drysdale was awarded the 3-0 win.
The result leaves Drysdale in 5th position on the table with 10 points. Barwon Heads currently sits 9th on the table with four points with -32 goal difference.
