Can you help film, announce, open or close venues?

As you are aware, Collingwood Basketball is a community club and we rely greatly on volunteers to help get players on the court each week.

Here are some areas that we really need help with at present – can you please contact manager@collingwoodbasketball.com.au if you can help with any of these?

Announcing at Big V games

At each of our home Big V games, we need someone to introduce the teams, play music and make comments throughout the game. In particular, we need someone this Sunday 20th May for the Women’s 1pm game so please let us know if you can help with that or are interested to help with future games.

Filming Big V games

It is a requirement that we film each of our 33 Big V home games and upload the game afterwards We can provide a video camera and tripod if needed. This is great experience for anyone interetsed in media. If you would like to help with this at future games, please let us know.

Opening and/or closing venues

We rely on volunteers to open and close venues, and we are looking for some more to join the rosters and help to relieve some who have been doing it for many years (and don’t even have children at the club!).

For Fitzroy High School, volunteers are rostered to open and close one weekend in four. The Thornbury High School roster varies depending on availability, but is similar.

To open a venue you collect keys and laptop computer on Friday night (from Carlton North), and on Saturday morning open the venue and set up ready for the first game’s start at 8.30am. Closing on Saturday afternoon is the reverse – after the last game has finished, lock up the venue and deliver the computer and keys to Carlton North or Alphington. In each case one of our experienced people will show you how it works. If you can help or would just like more information please email manager@collingwoodbasketball.com.au

We would be very grateful if you could help with any of these roles.

Thanks!

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
