Pengelly at the double for Western Pride
Andrew Pengelly struck a double as Western Pride FC maintained their lead at the top of the table with a 5-0 win against Redlands United on Friday night at Cleveland Showgrounds.
Despite being stuck near the middle of the table, Redlands United put up a competitive showing for most of the game before Western Pride scored three times late to cash in on tiring legs.
Frustrations got the better of the home side, with three players cautioned and one, Scott Bow, sent off in the 83rd minute.

Gold Coast made to work for the win
SWQ Thunder worked hard but couldn’t keep up with Gold Coast United, going down 4-2 on Saturday at Clive Berghofer Stadium in Toowoomba.
Tyler Wagstaffe opened the scoring for Gold Coast in the eighth minute, making the most of an error at the back, before SWQ Thunder equalised via Chris Hatfield in the 33rd minute.
Brandon Reeves kept Gold Coast ahead with a long-range strike in the 38th minute, with Lachlan Weier making it 3-1 early in the second half.
Nick Edwards pulled one back for SWQ Thunder, before a foul by goalkeeper Jacob Sayle resulted in a penalty for Gold Coast, and a red card. Gold Coast substitute Uryu Nagata took delight in putting home the penalty to seal the win.

Strikers always ahead in North QLD clash
The Brisbane Strikers kept themselves in touch with the top of the table, after beating 4-1 North QLD United on Saturday at Perry Park.
Michael Lee scored inside the first minute, then added a second in the 43rd minute to make it 2-0 at the break.
The Brisbane Strikers didn’t take their foot off the pedal, with Jake McLean and Ryan Palmer getting in on the act despite conceding to Darren Walker of North QLD United in the 72nd minute.
The win keeps the Brisbane Strikers only five points off first-placed Western Pride FC.

Injury-time winner ends the heated match
Brisbane City came out 4-3 winners in a spiteful clash against the Magpies Crusaders on Saturday at Corporate Travel Management Stadium. A last-minute penalty sealed the win in a game which had nine yellow cards handed out.
The Magpies Crusaders were leading 3-2 late on before a loss of concentration resulted in four players being disciplined between the 75th and 80th minutes.
City’s Andre Bonotto slotted away a penalty in the 80th minute to make it 3-3 before another one was given right at the death. Seiji Shizuno put away the winner in injury-time to win 4-3 for Brisbane City.

Early burst enough for Olympic FC
Olympic FC was too good for Sunshine Coast FC, winning 5-0 on Saturday at Kawana Sports Western Precinct.
Sunshine Coast FC had difficulty in dealing with corner kicks, with Kieran Sanders opening the scoring from one for Olympic FC in the 12th minute before Costa Psaros scored at the back post to make it 2-0 in the 18thminute.
An own-goal, and goals from Daniel Byrne and a screamer by Kristen Waters resulted in a 5-0 lead to Olympic at the break, and the away side was unable to add to their tally after halftime.

Moreton Bay comes out on top in fiery clash
Moreton Bay United kept themselves within touching distance of the top four, with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Cairns FC on Sunday afternoon at Barlow Park.
In a game which featured a red card to Cairns FC and both sides swapping 90th-minute goals, this was a good test for Moreton Bay in facing a spirited effort by Cairns.
The result is the Jets’ third win in four outings.
