In a closely fought contest, the home side prevailed defeating the visitors 2-1 on the night. Riley Smith scored Barwon’s only goal. The goalscorers for Barwon Heads were not submitted by the club.
Meanwhile, also on Friday night over at Shell Road Reserve in Ocean Grove, the travelling Geelong Rangers took on the hosts Surfside Waves.
In the end, the Rangers came away with a comfortable 4-1 win over the hosts, with Troy Hardy and Matthew Long both contributing a goal apiece to their team’s cause, while Darren McCallum netted a double. Alexander Ketchen scored Surfside’s only goal of the night, which proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Geelong Rangers are sitting comfortably on top of the ladder and are yet to be defeated this season. They are the only team with a 100% record, having won all of their opening three games.
Corio came away from Drysdale on Sunday with a point, finishing 1-1 with Drysdale SC at the new Drysdale Sporting Precinct. Danijel Djordjevic scored Corio’s only goal on the day, while Drysdale’s scorer was not submitted by the club.
Deakin Ducks triumphed over Surf Coast at Banyul Warri Reserve in Torquay on Sunday, putting five past Surf Coast. Surf Coast managed to score two, but it was Deakin who came away with all three points in the end. Sadly, the goalscorers for both Deakin and Surf Coast were not submitted by either of the clubs.
Finally, to wrap up the round, Breakwater Eagles hosted Lara United at the White Eagle Club on Sunday afternoon. In the end, it was the visitors who came away with the three points, defeating the Eagles 4-0. Unfortunately, the goalscorers for Lara United were not submitted by the club.
Following the completion of Round 3, Rangers heads the table with 9 points, followed by Drysdale on 7, with Lara United and Barwon on six apiece making up the top four.
