Longwarry v Catani
Both teams enter the game with two wins and a loss. Fair to say that both have shown indifferent form and yet to find anywhere near their best. The Crows will be buoyed by the form of Cory Lenders who is tantamount to a new recruit after an injury plagued season last year. Longwarry will chart a plan to neutralise star Blues on baller Paul Pattison but the difficulty for most clubs when up against Catani is their evenness all over the field with the likes of James and John Alexander, Nick Visser and Dale Johnson often inconspicuous but very effective. Nevertheless, got a hunch the home side will rise to big occasion and consolidate a spot in the top five.
Warragul Industrials v Poowong
The Dusties will be gunning for its third victory when it meets the Magpies. Warragul will enter favourites but will not get things all their own way. Poowong has yet to open their winning account but has made progress evidenced by three gallant defeats. It has actually won seven of the 12 quarters it has played. Magpie smalls Tom Wyatt and Jack Hazendonk have proved to be real goers but will have their work cut out against the strong Dusties midfield led by Tyson Bale, Shane Brewster, Josh Peterson, Will Gibson and Mick Ablett.
Nilma Darnum v Buln Buln
At home the Bombers will enter the popular elect but a Lyrebird victory is not without claims. Nilma struggled to throw off a determined Lang Lang last Saturday and can largely thank the Campbell brothers Ben, Nathan and Tom for their victory. Buln Buln to had fight hard to prevail by three points over a persistent Neerim South. Improbably Buln Buln also have three brothers Mitchell, Charlie and Tom all coming along nicely. Nilma to win in a very tight contest.
Neerim South v Ellinbank
The Cats will need to lift to upset the Eagles. It can take confidence in that it started and finished well against Buln Buln last week which suggests it is on the improve. Nathan Bayne and Jackson Ward continue to be a driving force for the Cats and Buln Buln recruit Nick Castle shapes as a handy acquisition. Ellinbank’s performance last Saturday against the Dusties was sub-par. Doveton recruit and ruckman Frank Agostino has given a good account of himself in the opening rounds and so to the experienced trio of coach Ben Wragg, Ash Wallace and Daniel Barrand but the Bankers need a few more youngsters and with a bit of run to step up. Ellinbank should record its third victory.
Nyora v Lang Lang
Surprisingly Nyora sit top of the table and the only undefeated team. On current form it should be able to dispose of the Tigers without too much trouble. Mature recruit Ben Schultz who has kicked well over 300 goals at Rosebud looks like he still has an appetite for goals after steering through six last week. Another interesting addition at Nyora is Ben Hallas a premiership player in 2006 but has spent time with Croydon and the Cairns Saints over the last decade. Lang Lang battled hard in defence last week led by Josh Brown, Troy McPherson and Jack Brickwood but struggled to generate many inside fifty entries. The Saints to retain their unbeaten record.
