Healing stunner caps Inglewood win

Inglewood United coach Andy Keogh labelled his side’s 2-0 win over Forrestfield on Saturday “excellent and very professional”.

Second-half goals from Alex Salmon and Ellis Healing decided the Round Nine encounter which the home side took control of as it went on.

The result means it is just one defeat in five for Inglewood, while Forrestfield are now third from bottom.

In an opening half of few chances at Perth Plasterboard Centre Stadium, Forrestfield’s Rhys Loxley created the first opening but Kristian Despotovski put his header off target.

Inglewood soon had an opportunity of their own when the unmarked Ash Rosindale received the ball in the box, but his shot was wide of the target.

Then with half-time approaching and Inglewood temporarily down to 10 men as Connor Becsi received treatment, Forrestfield almost went ahead. Hasani Sinclair managed to shrug off his defender and shot past keeper Alex Dunn, only for his effort to be headed off the line before his follow-up was saved by a grateful Dunn.

Keogh demanded more from his side in the second half but against it was Forrestfield who threatened. Despotovski found himself one-on-one with Dunn, who again saved his side, and Sinclair then fired wide.

And minutes later Inglewood talisman Salmon opened the scoring with a calm volley after Rosindale’s corner found him at the front post.

Forrestfield responded by pushing players forward in hope of an equaliser, but they were undone by substitute Healing’s 30-yard stunner which flew in off the crossbar. “Magnificent” was Keogh’s accurate description.

Forrestfield continued to push but they couldn’t find a way through, much to coach Rod Banjac’s frustration.

“We played well, we created chances but we didn’t take them,” he said.

“I thought the quality of football we delivered was good, we just didn’t take our chances which is something we will be working on.”
